What year was the first Ford Freestyle SEL?

I had a Ford Freestyle SEL when I was younger and I loved it. Now that I’m in the market for a new car, I was thinking of going back to this particular trim and model. I’m aware they don’t make it anymore, but what was the first year the Ford Freestyle SEL was available?

That’s exciting that you’re in the market for a new ride! As the successor to the Ford Taurus Wagon, the
Ford Freestyle SEL
debuted in 2005. Ford continued the model until 2007 when it was replaced by the
Ford Taurus X
in 2008.
The Ford Freestyle SEL was the middle trim, slotted between the entry-level SE and the fully-loaded Limited. But even as a mid-level trim, it still had plenty to offer:
  • A 203-hp, 3.0-liter V6 engine
  • Fuel economy of 27 mpg highway/20 mpg city
  • 17-inch alloy wheels
  • A standard security system
  • A power driver’s seat
  • An AM/FM stereo with CD/MP3 player
  • Dual-zone automatic climate control with rear controls
If you decide to buy a Ford Freestyle SEL and need car insurance, cut out the hassle of shopping by using the
Jerry
app. With no forms or phone calls necessary, shopping for car insurance has never been easier. And you’ll save an average of $800+ every year!
