What year was the first Ford F-150 SuperCrew?

Ever since I drove a Ford F-150, I’ve been mesmerized: it’s utilitarian, powerful, and all without sacrificing looks and features. I’ve mostly had a SuperCrew cab on my trucks, which is a useful feature for hauling my family around. What year did the first Ford F-150 SuperCrew come out?

A great question! Since 1977, the Ford F-150 has been the top-selling vehicle in America. But it wasn’t until 2001 that the **Ford F-150 SuperCrew made its debut.
In 2001, SUVs were becoming more prominent and selling at a rate that was unseen at the time. To compete, Ford came up with the SuperCrew. The 2001 F-150 SuperCrew featured a longer cab, highlighted by four full-size doors—this was in contrast to the prior generation, which featured two regular-sized doors and two smaller ones with the handles inside the door jamb.
The only trade-off of the 2001 F-150 SuperCrew was that it only came with one bed size—a shortened 67.2-inch bed that it shared with the smaller F-150 SuperCab. Combining practicality with the ability to haul up to 8,000 pounds, the 2001 Ford F-150 SuperCrew was the first in a long line of cab options that continue in present-day models.
