What year was the first Chevrolet Sonic LT made?

I’m online looking for a cheap used car, and I just saw an ad for a 2012 Chevy Sonic LT. Were they even being made yet, or is this a scam ad?

The first
Chevrolet Sonic LT
rolled off the line in 2012, so there’s a good chance this ad is real—at least as far as the model year is concerned.
Chevrolet
introduced the Sonic as part of their bid to enter the compact sedan market. The 2012 Sonic LT was available as either a sedan or hatchback and included several great features, including:
  • 1.8L inline-four returning 28 combined miles per gallon
  • Traction control
  • Emergency braking assist
  • One-touch power windows
