What year was the first Chevrolet Impala LT?

I’m in the market for a car and the Impala looks like a good fit for me. However, entry-level trims on most cars seem to lack even the most basic features, so I want to go with an LT trim if possible. What year did the Chevrolet Impala LT first become available?

Roving along American roads since 1958, the Impala is an American classic, even though many generations only offered a single trim. If you’re interested in purchasing one, the
Chevrolet Impala LT
came out in 2006, slotted above the entry-level LS but below the loaded LTZ and SS trims.
The LT model offers far more features than the
Impala LS
. Most notably, you had the option between a 211-hp, 3.5-liter V-6, or a 242-hp, 3.9-liter V-6. Regardless of which one you choose for your used car, the Impala LT comes with plenty of extras:
  • 16-inch alloy wheels
  • Cloth seats
  • Front heated seats
  • AM/FM/CD/MP3 with six-speaker sound system
  • Remote keyless entry
  • Cruise control
  • Four-speed automatic transmission
For just a few grand, you can bring a used Chevy Impala LT home. But before you roll away from the seller or the dealership, use the
