What year was the first Chevrolet HHR LS?

I can’t really describe the style of the Chevy HHR, but I think it’s one of the coolest cars Chevrolet ever produced. I finally have some money to buy one, but I’m on a shoestring budget. As a result, I think I’ll buy an older model. What year did the first Chevrolet HHR LS come out?

With retro styling, tons of passenger and cargo space, and a high roof—hence the name Heritage High Roof—the Chevrolet HHR LS remains one of the more interesting entrants from Chevrolet. The first Chevrolet HHR LS debuted in 2006 as the entry-level of the two available trims.
Even as an entry-level trim, the HHR LS still comes with some top-notch features:
  • Seating for up to five passengers
  • 143-hp, 2.2-liter four-cylinder engine
  • Six-speaker stereo system with AM/FM/CD
  • 12-volt rear power outlets
  • 63.1 cubic feet of cargo space
  • Heated power side mirrors
  • One-touch automatic windows
