I just bought a Chevy Equinox LS, and the dealer was talking about how the latest model is part of the 2018 redesign. That got me wondering—when was the first Chevy Equinox LS made?

The first
Chevrolet Equinox LS
 was made and marketed in 2005.
The Equinox shared a platform with the now-defunct
Saturn Vue
. As a new addition to
Chevy’s
 lineup, it took the place of the aged
Tracker
 by offering more flexible interior space, a stronger engine, and more modern styling.
In addition to newer, fresher design, the Equinox LS offered these options:
  • standard V6 engine
  • fore and aft adjustable rear seats
  • upgraded cloth upholstery
  • cruise control
  • alloy wheels
