What year was the first Chevrolet Camaro made?

In its first model year, Chevrolet sought to “blanket” the market with a Camaro that could fit any budget or desire, with options from entry-level six-cylinders to high-performance V8s. Buyers had their choice among eight different engines and five different transmissions. Among the many additional options, drivers could choose from were three main packages:
- TheZ/28Performance Package, which added further modifications to the SS Package to compete in the SCCA Trans-Am Series.
Since 1966, Chevy has continued to offer a variety of options, features, and trims for their Camaro. The 2022 model year features a choice of seven trims that, like the first-generation Camaro, offer drivers a choice among entry-level V6s and heart-pounding V8s.
