What should you do when driving on slippery roads?

I just moved to Oregon, and there’s far more rain and snow than where I lived before. When I’m driving, what should I do when I’m on slippery roads?

Congratulations on your move to
Oregon
! Slippery roads are just part of living there, so to successfully navigate them, follow these tips:
  • Drive slowly.
  • Avoid using cruise control.
  • Use your headlights, high beams, and fog lights to your advantage.
  • Don’t slam the brakes if you lose traction.
  • Keep a five-second distance between you and other drivers.
  • Make sure that your tires have the proper pressure.
  • Keep your traction control on at all times.
In addition to the driving maneuvers listed above, take an extra precaution by packing an emergency kit and adding towing and labor coverage or roadside assistance to your car insurance. By adding this, you can make sure you don’t get stranded, even when the weather doesn’t cooperate.
Since you’re moving to a new state, you also need to switch your car insurance over to Oregon. And while you could stick with your current car insurance company, shopping around for rates on the
