What should I know before buying an old car to modify?

"I'd like to buy a used car that I can modify, preferably a Ford muscle car. What are some considerations I should keep in mind?

“The most important aspect to keep in mind is whether the vehicle modifications are worth the time and money. If you plan on keeping the car forever, this isn’t really an issue. But if you plan on selling it down the road, just remember that modifications may lower the resale value of the vehicle and you may never get the money out of it that you put in.
Furthermore, who does the modifications is an integral part of your decision. If you’ve never done modifications or have limited experience, you may want to start with the most affordable option possible, and maybe even just the shell (body) without any inner components.
If you want a vehicle that’s already functional but want to add modifications (such as a lift kit on a truck), you may want to hire a professional. By doing so, you’ll ensure that the job is done right without adversely affecting the value of the vehicle. “
