What should I bring to a driving lesson?

I’m starting driving lessons and I’m not sure what to bring! I don’t want to show up unprepared. What should I bring to a driving lesson?

It’s great that you’re preparing for your lesson ahead of time! There are a few things you need to bring to a driving lesson:
  • Your learner’s permit
  • Payment for your lesson (unless you’ve already paid, of course!)
  • Comfortable shoes with closed-toes and solid backs (no flip-flops, unfortunately)
  • A water bottle and snack
  • Glasses if you wear them
  • A sweater
Staying comfortable and alert is important for your first driving lesson. By staying properly hydrated, at a comfortable temperature, and with your feet supported by comfortable shoes, you’ll be able to fully concentrate on the driving lesson.
If you’re bringing your own car to the lesson, you’ll also have to have it
properly insured
