What shape is a stop sign?

I’m learning sign shapes right now and I need to have them all memorized by next week. Some signs are easy but for some reason, there are a few that I can’t remember. What shape is a stop sign?

It’s great that you’re learning your road signs by shape as well as markings! Stop signs are shaped like octagons. Stop signs are the only sign with this shape. This is because stop signs must be distinct—even in low-visibility conditions—to prevent
accidents
.
Other signs with unique shapes include:
  • The yield sign, which is an upside-down triangle
  • The no passing zone sign, which is a pennant shape
  • The railroad crossing sign, which is a circle
While you’re learning more about road signs, why not take an extra minute to learn about your insurance options? It’s easy— just use the
