What protection does sound system coverage provide?
Would sound system coverage protect my sound system from theft? I want to cover the radio in my car as I live in a high theft area.

“To protect your sound system from theft, you’ll have two options for coverage:
The coverage that will be best for you will depend on your sound system. If your radio or sound system is factory installed, comprehensive insurance will likely cover its theft. If it is an aftermarket modification that you installed, you’ll need sound system coverage.
Most insurance policies require aftermarket parts to be insured with additional coverage as they alter the vehicle’s value.
Most insurance companies would restore a vehicle to its original state when damaged, which wouldn’t include any modifications. By having extra coverage, you are making sure the additional value is included.
Before adding any coverage, be sure to reach out to your insurance company to ensure you get the proper coverage.”
