What oil is best for a 2011 Toyota Corolla?
I just purchased a 2011 Toyota Corolla. It’s my first car ever! My parents say I have to get my own oil changes, so what kind of oil should I ask for?

Congratulations on purchasing your very first vehicle—that is a big milestone! We generally recommend referencing your vehicle’s owner’s manual for everything you need to know about basic car maintenance. When it comes to oil, however, we can provide a quick answer—always use 0W-20 full synthetic motor oil in your 2011
Toyota Corolla
. Toyota specifically recommends Mobil 1 - Extended Performance High Mileage 0W-20 Full Synthetic Motor Oil, but you can select a different brand, as long as it’s the proper viscosity (the 0W-20 part).
We also recommend always selecting full synthetic oil. Conventional oil may be cheaper, but it’s not as good for your engine and, ultimately, you’ll need to get your oil changed more often, costing you extra money in the long run.
Toyotas that use 0W-20 full synthetic motor oil are approved for extended oil change intervals of 10,000-miles or 12 months—which is a fantastic money saver. Just be sure to regularly check your oil level and top it off, as needed, between changes.
