With a Lima in the garage, I’m guessing your dad used to have an old muscle car. The Ford
460 engine debuted in 1968, and it still gets fantastic reviews today.
The legendary 460 is overall a fairly reliable engine. But, of course, at 25+ years old, you’re likely to see some issues related to old age and high mileage.
Enthusiasts say it’s a solid workhorse with which you can have fun if you like a ton of power. It’s worth noting, however, that the “power” really depends on the year. From ‘68 to ‘72, the 460 made an impressive 365 horsepower; but from 1973 on, that number dropped to between 205 and 275.
