What kind of proof do I have to offer to get car insurance discounts?

I want to get a low-mileage discount and a good student discount. How would I qualify? Do I have to offer proof of my good grades and reduced driving?

“Taking advantage of discounts is an excellent way to save money on your
car insurance
policy. And it is usually pretty easy to do!
Insurance carriers need to see proof for some discounts to ensure that you are eligible for them. For example:
  • Good student discount: You must send a copy of your last report card or transcript showing a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
  • Defensive driver discount: You must send a copy of the certificate showing the date on which you completed the course.
  • Driver training discount: You must send a copy of the certificate showing the date on which you completed the course.
When it comes to low-mileage discounts, each company is a little different. Some will require a copy of your last maintenance check or oil change report, along with a picture of your current odometer reading. You can usually send the required documentation over in a quick email.
Others will have you download a free telematics app or place a device in your car to track the mileage.”
