What kind of oil does a Chevy Equinox take?

I borrowed my aunt’s car for a road trip and she asked me to top up the oil before I gave it back. What kind of oil does a Chevy Equinox take?

Hope your road trip was fun! It depends on which kind of engine the Equinox has and which model year it is.
Generally, you can use 5W-30 synthetic engine oil in first-generation (2004-2009) 3.4L, second-generation (2009-2017) 2.4L or 3.6L, and third and fourth-generation (2018 onward) Equinoxes.
If you live in an area with extremely cold temperatures, you can use 0W-30 or 0W-20 engine oil. You can find this type of oil at most gas stations and auto supply shops.
Note that the oil capacity for an
Equinox
is between four and six quarts, depending on the model. To be safe, grab a larger container. You can always give it to your aunt when you return the vehicle to her.
