Congrats on the new car! Sounds like that was a close call. It’s recommended that the kind of gas your 2022 Acura MDX
uses is premium unleaded gasoline with an octane rating of at least 91. Using unleaded gasoline with an octane rating below 87 could lead to engine damage. Gasoline with MMT additives should be avoided, but Acura supports using gasoline that contains Top Tier detergent gasoline when it’s available.
And, as your girlfriend cautioned, using fuel containing more than 15% ethanol isn’t recommended.
For more information on what kinds of fuel your Acura MDX can take—and what ones you should avoid—you can refer to your owner’s manual.
In the meantime, don’t forget to make sure your new wheels are protected by the right car insurance
policy as soon as possible if you haven’t already. The Jerry
app can help you make quick work of that! It only takes 45 seconds to get started, and Jerry users save an average of $800+ per year on car insurance. Now that’s a lot of gas money!
