“Zipcar’s damage fee waiver is
collision coverage
and
comprehensive coverage
for drivers. For a standard membership, you are responsible for a $1,000 deductible should damage occur.
As a $1,000 deductible isn’t affordable for some drivers, Zipcar does offer damage protection plans to help reduce or eliminate the damage fee. There are two plans available:
  • Plus Protection
  • $375 deductible may apply
  • An additional $5 a month or $50 annually
  • Premium protection
  • $0 deductible
  • An additional $9 a month or $79 annually
Should damage arise from a collision, vandalism, or weather-related event, you would only be responsible for the deductible outlined in your plan. To be eligible for the damage protection plan, you need a clean driving record, meaning no damage claims, with Zipcar for the past 12 months.
If you’re concerned about damage and don’t have your own
car insurance
, the damage protection plan may be the best option for you.
You can also look into car insurance policies with insurance companies or
Jerry
to determine what your other options are.”
