What is the warranty for a Mazda 5?

My grandma wants to give me her 2015 Mazda 5—I’m really excited, but I’m not sure I’ll be able to afford any repairs the car might need. Is the car’s warranty still valid, or has it expired?

Unfortunately, no, a 2015 Mazda 5 would not still be covered by a warranty. In 2015, the
Mazda 5
had a warranty made up of two different coverages:
  • 3-year, 36,000-mile bumper-to-bumper warranty that covered everything from steering and braking systems to electrical components and safety equipment
  • 5-year, 60,000-mile powertrain warranty that covered the car’s engine, drivetrain, and transmission components.
While all Mazda warranties are transferable between owners, they are only transferable for the life of the warranty. That means that, if your grandma’s Mazda 5 was purchased in 2015, the last of its 5-year powertrain warranty would have elapsed in 2020. Unfortunately, the Mazda 5 was discontinued in 2015, so there’s no hope of purchasing a new model with a new warranty.
That being said, you can avoid paying for repair costs out of pocket when you invest in
