What is the Texas blood alcohol limit?

I purchased my first car the other day and I’m excited! While I know most of the traffic laws, I’m not quite sure what level of alcohol gets you a DUI. What’s the blood alcohol limit in Texas?

Congrats on the purchase of your first car! In
Texas
, the blood alcohol limit is .08 or 80 mg of alcohol per 100 mL of blood. If you exceed this blood alcohol limit, you’re going to receive a DWI, which comes with a number of penalties and other issues.
If you get a DWI in Texas, penalties include:
  • Three to 180 days in jail
  • Fines of up to $2,000, not including court costs and fees
  • License suspension of between 90 and 365 days
Texas also has increased penalties for an enhanced DWI, which occurs if you have a blood alcohol limit above .15.
On top of these penalties, your car insurance premiums can skyrocket as a result of a DWI. If this happens to you, make sure to download the
