With reduced greenhouse gas emissions and lower pollution, New York
is incentivizing the purchase of electric vehicles. Also known as Charge NY, the New York electric vehicle rebate provides up to $2,000 to New York residents who buy or lease a new electric vehicle. Plug-in hybrid electric vehicles are also eligible for this rebate. However, the amount you receive on the rebate depends on the all-electric distance of the vehicle as follows:
Range of 200 miles or more: $2,000
Range of 40 miles to 199 miles: $1,000
Range of fewer than 40 miles: $500
If the vehicle you select has a range of 199 miles or less, you can also get an additional $500 rebate if your car has a manufacturer’s suggested retail price of less than $42,000.
