Between the ages of 16 and 18, drivers can apply for a provisional license. Under an Alaska provisional license, teens cannot drive between 1:00 a.m. and 5:00 a.m. or with anyone under the age of 21 in the car.
To apply for an instructor’s permit, provisional license, or a full driver’s license if you’re over 18, you’ll have to visit your local Alaska DMV office and pass a written knowledge test and a driver’s exam.
