Interestingly, the gecko’s name is never mentioned in a commercial, which is why you may not recall what his name is.The name Martin comes from The Martin Agency, which is a Richmond, Virginia, advertising agency that originally created the lovable character. However, during the naming process, Greggie and Gordon were front-runners for the name, only to be overruled by Martin in the final vote among Martin Agency employees. Over 20 years later, Martin remains one of the most memorable advertising characters in the country.
