I was looking at a car for sale online and the ad said that it has a cracked engine exhaust manifold. What is the exhaust manifold? Will it be pricy to fix?

It is good that you are being cautious when buying a used car. An exhaust manifold is a vital part of your exhaust system and can be very pricy to repair.
The exhaust manifold is just one part of a very complex system. Its job is to remove gases from the cylinders and direct them to the catalytic converter. A broken manifold can cause a dangerous gas leak that is harmful to both the passengers and the environment.
