What is the driving age in the United States?

My family and I are hoping to move to the U.S. soon, and as our daughters are getting older, we’ve started to wonder how old they’ll have to be to drive in America. What is the legal driving age in the United States?

The driving age in the United States varies from state to state, and it ranges from 16 to 18. However, you can get a learner’s permit before that, which allows you to drive with supervision and with certain restrictions. Depending on your state, you may be able to get a learner’s permit between the ages of 14 and 16.
It’s best to check with your state’s Department of Motor Vehicles or Department of Transportation. Most states provide online resources for young drivers, which should help your daughters figure out the timeline for getting a permit and a license.
