What is the driving age in Pennsylvania?

My teen daughter is growing up and looking forward to getting behind the wheel soon. But it’s been so long since I got my own license, I don’t remember the driver's license process! What’s the driving age in Pennsylvania?

What an exciting time for you and your daughter! The driving age in
Pennsylvania
is 16 years old for a junior learner’s permit. Before heading down to the local Driving License Center, your daughter must first receive a physical examination and complete a “Non-Commercial Learner’s Permit Application”.
Then, your daughter must bring all the necessary proof of identity documents to apply at the Driving License Center. Once she passes her eye screening and knowledge test, she will be issued a learner’s permit. The knowledge test is based on the Pennsylvania Driver’s Manual study guide, which goes over road signs, rules of the road, and general driving safety.
A Pennsylvania learner’s permit allows teenagers to operate a vehicle if accompanied by a supervising driver in the front seat. If under 18, your daughter must practice 65 hours of adult-supervised driving, including:
  • 10 hours of nighttime driving
  • 5 hours of bad weather driving
After holding her permit for six months, she should schedule and pass the road test to be issued her junior driver’s license for a year before she can qualify to apply for a regular driver’s license.
Once your daughter gets her driver’s license, you must can either help her get her own car insurance or add her to
your current policy
