What is the driving age in New Jersey?

We’re moving to New Jersey in a few weeks, right before my daughter turns 16. I’d love to take her to get her learner’s permit on her birthday if possible. What is the driving age in New Jersey?

It looks like your daughter will have a very exciting birthday this year because the driving age in
New Jersey
is 16 years old! Before you make an appointment with the DMV, be sure to enroll your daughter in one of the state-approved driver’s education programs and gather the required documents.
Your daughter will also have to pass a vision test and a written exam to get her
learner’s permit
. She can prepare for the written exam by studying the New Jersey Driver Manual.
A New Jersey learner’s permit allows teens to drive while accompanied by a licenses driver that’s over the age of 21 and has at least three years of driving experience.
Once your daughter turns 17 and has held her permit for at least six months she can schedule a road test and get her probationary license. This type of license allows young drivers to drive unsupervised except between the hours of 11pm and 5am. At 18, she can upgrade her probationary license to a full license online.
