What is the difference between road rage and aggressive driving?

Road rage and aggressive driving seem really similar. I’m not sure how to tell them apart. Is road rage the same as aggressive driving?

While both of these driving behaviors are dangerous, there’s a legal difference between road rage and aggressive driving!
Road rage
is a criminal offense. It includes intentional, violent behaviors toward others, such as using your car as a weapon, exiting your vehicle with the intent to harm, or physically harming another driver.
Aggressive driving, on the other hand, typically won’t cost you more than a ticket. Rude hand gestures, running red lights, speeding, and swerving through traffic are considered aggressive driving behaviors. Aggressive driving can lead to road rage, but the two are not the same.
