What is the curfew for teen drivers in Washington DC?

My son just got his license. From what I understand, there are restrictions on when he can drive. I have a busy schedule and can’t be available to play chauffeur all the time. Can you explain to me the curfew for teen drivers in Washington D.C.?

Of course! But you might want to buckle up for this—it’s a bit of a doozy.
The curfew for teen drivers in Washington D.C. is either 11 p.m. or 12:01 a.m., depending on the time of year and day of the week. Essentially, the curfew for drivers under the age of 18 favors weekends and summer months.
Here’s how it works. Teen drivers are prohibited from driving:
  • Between 12:01 a.m. and 6 a.m. July through August, every day of the week
  • Between 11 p.m. and 6 a.m. September through June, Sunday through Thursday
  • Between 12:01 a.m. and 6 a.m. September through June, Friday through Saturday
Raising a teenager can be crazy enough, but things get even more complicated once they hit the road. Make sure they’re protected by great car insurance.
