What is the curfew for permit drivers in Florida?

My son just received his driving permit in Jacksonville. He’s been responsible thus far, but I’m nervous about other drivers—especially at night. Does Florida have a curfew for permit drivers?

The curfew for permit drivers in
Florida
is daylight hours only for the first three months of driving.
16 year-old drivers:
  • First three months: No driving when it’s dark outside
  • After three months: No driving from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m.
17 year-old drivers:
  • No driving between 1 a.m. and 5 a.m.
18 year-old drivers:
  • All restrictions are lifted.
Florida has stringent laws regarding young drivers and curfew to help protect inexperienced permit drivers (and other drivers). Remind your teen to follow
Florida’s texting and driving laws
, too.
Even if a young driver does well abiding by the rules of the road, be sure to have a solid
car insurance policy
in place to protect them.
