What is the cost to renew a driver's license in Texas?

I got carded at the liquor store a few days ago and noticed my driver’s license is about to expire. I don’t like waiting until the last minute, so I thought I’d take care of it immediately. What’s the cost of renewing my driver’s license in Texas?

The cost to renew your driver’s license in
Texas
depends on your age. Here are the renewal fees:
  • 18 to 84 years old: $33
  • 85 years or older: $9
In most cases, you can renew your
Texas driver’s license
up to two years before and after the expiration date.
There are several options for renewal when that time comes:
  • Online by setting up a Texas by Texas account here: https://www.texas.gov/texas-by-texas/
  • By phone by calling 1-866-DLRENEW (1-866-357-3639)
  • By mail (this will only work if the State of Texas sends you an official renewal form that states you can renew by mail)
  • In-person at your local driver's license office
To renew your license in person, you must book an appointment online or by calling the Department of Public Safety office of your choice. Walk-ins are not accepted for license services.
For more details on how to renew your Texas driver’s license, head to the
Texas Department of Public Safety website
and navigate to the driver’s license page.
