What is the cost of tint car windows?
Is it expensive to tint car windows? My boyfriend wants to tint our car windows to help block out UV light, but I’m worried about the cost of this modification.

The average cost for tinting can range from $100 to $800 for a professional full tint job. A full tint job typically includes:
- Two front windows
- Two windows at the back seat
- Rear quarter windows at the backseat
- Rear window
While this is the typical range, the cost for tinting car windows depends on five factors that affect the pricing:
- Size of your vehicle
- Size of your windows
- How many windows you want to get tinted
- Type of tint material
- The percentage of tint (the darker the tint, the more expensive it is)
Before you get your windows tinted, check what your state laws are on how dark the tint can be and if there are any regulations for specialty tints, such as metallic or colored. Using a tint percentage that goes over the state rules can result in hefty fines.
If you are worried about the cost, you can try applying the tint yourself at home. While it’s fairly easy to apply tint at home, it does require some time and tools. If you’re not confident doing this yourself, you may not be satisfied with the result.
