What is the cause of the 2012 GMC Acadia ticking noise?

I have a 2012 GMC Acadia that hasn’t exhibited any issues since I bought it off the lot. However, it recently started making a weird ticking noise. I don’t know if this is normal wear and tear or something more significant. What might be the cause of this issue?

One known issue on the 2012 GMC Acadia that may cause a ticking noise is a faulty purge valve. This valve prevents fuel vapors from exiting the car, so while it’s important for environmental reasons, it will not cause any damage to your car.
Replacing this part is rather simple if you want to do it yourself. Expect to pay about $150 to $200 for the part. If you decide you’d rather take it to a mechanic to do the replacement, just add another $50 to $60 to the price of the repair. With any luck, this should get rid of the ticking noise.
