What is the California hybrid battery warranty?

I live in Anaheim and commuting is a nightmare. While I love my current vehicle, I’m looking at a hybrid to save at the pump. I read that California requires a certain warranty for hybrid batteries. What does this entail?

If you want to save money on gas, a hybrid is a smart purchase. The
California
hybrid battery warranty states that all hybrid batteries must be under warranty from the manufacturer for 10 years or 150,000 miles—whichever comes first.
Most manufacturers of hybrid vehicles offer an eight-year, 100,000-mile warranty. However, Toyota is the only automaker that offers a 10-year, 150,000-mile warranty in every state across the country.
Other manufacturers will honor the California hybrid battery warranty, but general have a warranty in other states of eight to 10 years or 100,000 miles.
