What is the BMW’s oil type?

I have a 2018 BMW and a 2020 BMW at home, and I need to grab some oil for an oil change. What kind do I need to buy?

It’s important to make sure you use the right oil in your car! While the oil type specifications vary between
BMW
models, BMW 5W30 motor oil is the factory-approved engine oil for most BMW engines, except for BMW Diesel and some M3/M5/M6 engines.
On top of changing the oil on your BMW, it’s also essential to keep up with regular car maintenance to ensure your vehicle runs well. Consider these maintenance items every 5,000 miles:
  • Vehicle check and inspection
  • Brake fluid check
  • Coolant check
  • Engine oil check
  • Front and rear brake inspection
  • Inspection of engine and cabin air filters
  • Standard scope
  • Wiper blade inspection
  • Tire rotation
Knowing basic maintenance is a great way to reduce car expenses—but you can also reduce your monthly insurance payments when you shop with
