What is the best year for an used Toyota 4Runner?

I’m shopping around for a used car, and I have my eye on a Toyota 4Runner. What’s the best year to buy one used?

When it comes to used cars, newer isn’t always better—and that’s certainly the case with the Toyota 4Runner! To make sure you’re getting the best buy, look for third-generation models built between 1988 and 2002. If you’re looking for something with fewer miles on it, shoot for a fifth-generation model from 2010 to the present.
Some of the model years you should avoid are actually included in the generations you should look for. For example, the 2015 4Runner is often considered the worst model year due to issues with the infotainment system, while 2014 models also suffer from electrical problems, including door-lock failures
There are a few more things you should look for when buying a used car. Be sure to get a vehicle history and a thorough inspection, and take the 4Runner for a test drive before signing off on your used car purchase.
