I’m looking for a used pick-up truck for some light yard work and commuting. What is the best year for a used Nissan Titan?

Newer vehicles tend to be more reliable than their older predecessors, and that’s true for the Nissan Titan. However, occasional model years didn’t live up to expectations—even though they’re fairly new models.
Nissan didn’t start as a truck-producing company. So, it’s understandable that Nissan’s first few attempts at a pick-up truck came with a few hiccups.
Try to avoid any Titan manufactured before 2008. Early models (from 2004-2008) had problems with the drivetrain, the brakes, the radiator, and more. Even the 2008 Titan had a few transmission and suspension issues. The 2016 and 2018 models had some issues, as well.
Ultimately, you’re bound to run into problems with any used car. It could have recalls, high mileage, or even a mysterious absence of service records.
Your job as a car-buyer is to do your due diligence. Avoid model years with known issues that cost a ton to fix. Transmission problems are extremely expensive to resolve. Interior problems may be less problematic, as far as you’re concerned.
One final note: If you’re not loyal to Nissan, it might be worth test-driving some other trucks. The Titan is not as powerful as other full-size pick-up trucks like the F-150 or the Ram 150, for example.
