The 2018 and newer models are the best year for a used Nissan Sentra
. Newer models are generally more reliable than older cars. With the Nissan Sentra, the 2018 model resolved many prior issues that older Sentras experienced. Nissan Sentras from 2016 forward have high reliability ratings compared to older Sentras. Although some 2016 and 2017 Sentras experienced a minor transmission issue, the consensus is that these problems were extremely rare.
The 2013-2014 models appear to have the most problems with tons of complaints on record about the transmission, airbag deployment, and brakes.
There are some issues with the 2004, 2005, 2008, 2012, and 2015 Sentras. For instance, the 2004 and 2005 Sentra had engine problems, as extreme as a blown head gasket. The ‘08 Sentra had issues with rusted rims on its wheels.
If you hear any clicking or thumping from your Sentra, take it in for an inspection. It could be a problem with the transmission or the suspension system. Even great cars experience problems occasionally!
A Sentra can last up to 300,000 miles if it’s well-maintained. But if you buy a lemon, not even basic maintenance can save you.
