What is the best year for a used Nissan Altima?

I enjoyed driving my mom’s Altima when I was learning how to drive, so I’d like to buy a used model. I just want to make sure I get a good one. What is the best model year for a used Nissan Altima?

We can’t blame you for wanting a car you’re already familiar with. In fact, the
Nissan Altima
is one of those cars where you might be better off buying an older model than a newer one if you have your heart set on it. The best model years for a used Nissan Altima go back as far as 2001, 2004, and 2007, but 2011 and 2012 are good options, too.
Unfortunately, many model years for the Nissan Altima have received major recalls, been involved in lawsuits, and had a high rate of customer complaints. Earlier models from 2001 and 2004 have been lauded as the most reliable, although the 2011 and 2012 models may be better options since they will likely have fewer miles. Additionally, they have received relatively few customer complaints.
A used Nissan Altima from 2011 or 2012 has a fair market price range of $5,250 to $8,500, depending on the year, condition, and trim configuration. No matter what model you find, you should always look up the vehicle history
when buying a used car
.
Don’t forget to research the cost of
car insurance
as you decide which model year Altima is right for you!
