My laptop recently got stolen out of my car. I can’t afford to buy a brand-new one so I’m shopping around for used Macs. What are the best years to buy a used Macbook Pro from?

to help cover some of the costs.The best years for a used Macbook Pro are 2014 and 2015, or 2020 and 2021 if a more recent model is in your budget. Typically, you’ll want to avoid Macbook Pros from 2016 to 2018 as these are notorious for keyboard problems.
Price-wise, Macbook Pros from 2014 and 2015 will be cheaper than a used Pro from 2020 or 2021. That’s because the recent models come with Apple’s new M1 chipset which provides a much faster and seamless performance than the 2014 and 2015 models. Just be careful about leaving them unattended in your car in the future!
