What is the best year for a used Jeep Liberty?

Our family wants to get a used Jeep as our second car. I used to drive a Liberty years ago and loved it, but I’ve heard there are model years I should avoid. What is the best year for a used Jeep Liberty?

You’re smart to research and read reviews. You can’t go wrong with a 2007 to 2009 Jeep Liberty since these years have more safety features, a more comfortable ride, and better fuel efficiency. Customer satisfaction is also higher for these years.
The Jeep Liberty was recalled 14 times in one year, so you probably want to avoid 2002. This is the first year that Liberty was produced, and Jeep struggled with the model until 2007. Vehicle History notes that the 2002 to 2006 models are the most unreliable. Problems with these years include recalls for fluid leaks and faulty airbags.
Fortunately, Jeep turned it around, and the 2007 to 2009 models are the best that they ever produced. The 2009 model was only recalled once (for a suspension problem that only affected 44 SUVs).
Once you’ve found a Jeep Liberty, consider
getting a used car inspection
just to be sure that you’re not getting a lemon!
