What is the best year for a used Jeep Compass?
I’m searching for a used Jeep Compass, and I’ve got a pretty good idea of what model years to avoid. But I also want to know which ones are the best—what’s the best year for a used Compass?

Some of the best model years for a used
Jeep Compass
include 2020, and 2019. But if you’re looking for something that falls in the Compass’s first generation, we’d recommend a 2010 or 2013 model. Aside from being newer (and therefore less likely to come with age-related problems or wear and tear), Jeep Compass models released within the last three years are part of the SUV’s second generation, which outcompetes the first in virtually every category—from a redesigned chassis to its stylish new look.
The 2019 Compass offers reliable off-road capability, reasonable cargo space, and enhanced handling performance into a compact package—but we’d recommend the 2020 Compass above it for these reasons:
- The 2020 Jeep Compass features updated safety features including forward collision warning and automatic emergency braking which helped it earn a four-star rating from the National Highway and Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
- According to the NHTSA, the 2020 Jeep Compass has just one recall and 45 owner complaints, making it less problematic than other model years.
And that’s in addition to sporting all the same, impressive features as the 2019 model. On the other hand, if you’re attached to the style of the first-generation Compass, models released in 2010 and 2013 are among the least reported for problems and recalls, making them worth consideration. No matter which model you choose, steer clear of those made in 2007, 2008, and 2018.
