How do I go about getting insurance on my new car? I am trading in my 2010 Toyota RAV4 for a 2021, which I’m picking up from the dealer on Friday.

car insurance
policy. Replacing a car is an easy process to do on your own online or with your agent.The most important thing to remember is to pay attention to your effective dates!
Since you will be driving your 2010 RAV4 to pick up your 2021, the effective date for your policy change will be Friday. This way, your old car is insured on the way to the dealership, and your new car is insured on the ride back home.
If you have the following information available, you can prepare for your new car insurance in advance. You will need:
- VIN of the new car
- Your preferred collision deductible
- Know your preferred comprehensive deductible
- Name and address of lienholder if applicable.
Another thing to be mindful of is the
type of insurance
coverage you may need on the 2021, which you might not have on the 2010. Make sure if you’re financing it, you have comprehensive and collision coverage as well.Some states also have particular license plate requirements. Check with your local DMV to make sure you are in compliance before you update the policy.
