What is the best route from Houston to Las Vegas, Nevada?
Some friends and I are probably going to drive from Houston to Las Vegas this summer. I know it’s going to take a while, but what is the best route?

Summer road trips
are some of the most fun you can have and looping it in with a trip to Las Vegas is the way to go. Here is a look at the best routes you can take from Houston to Las Vegas.There are two main routes you can choose between, both of which will take nearly the same amount of time. They are:
- Head directly west out ofHoustonand drive throughSan Antonio. From there, continue to the northwestern edge ofTexasand drive throughNew MexicotoPhoenix. After that, head directly northwest to Las Vegas.
- Head northwest in Texas until you make it toAlbuquerque, New Mexico. From there head west throughArizonauntil you reach Las Vegas.
If you are interested in stopping in more cities, I’d recommend taking the first route. This will allow you time to explore both San Antonio and Phoenix before eventually making it to Las Vegas.
Whichever route you take, the entire drive is going to take you around 22 hours. This is assuming you don’t hit
heavy traffic
