When it comes to driving in snow, there are a few Hyundai vehicles that perform better than others. Overall, the Hyundai Santa Fe with all-wheel drive is considered to be the best option for winter driving.
When outfitted with Hyundai’s HTRAC all-wheel drive system—which features multi-terrain control and a dedicated “Snow” driving mode that provides optimal traction for winter weather conditions—the Santa Fe provides reliable handling on even the worst ice and snow.
Of course, the Santa Fe’s powerful engine, high ground clearance, and higher curb weight also make the midsize SUV well-suited to traversing snow-covered roads.
Two other Hyundai vehicles, the Hyundai Tucson and Hyundai Kona, are also well-suited to driving in the snow, especially when equipped with AWD. (The Tucson actually comes standard with all-wheel drive.) Both models offer excellent, responsive handling and feature an admirable set of safety features, giving you the confidence necessary to navigate various road conditions.
Regardless of which Hyundai you end up purchasing, you’ll want to be sure to install a quality set of
snow tires
for the winter months, as these will help improve traction and stopping power on icy, snow-covered roads. If you need recommendations, we’d suggest looking at what Bridgestone, Cooper, and Michelin have to offer.
