I live in the Twin Cities and I have to go to Phoenix next month. What is my best driving route between Minneapolis and Phoenix?

The best driving route from
Minneapolis
to Phoenix
is south via the I-35 to Wichita, KS
. From Witchita, take the following steps:- Take US Route 400 west to Mullinville
- At Mullinville exit onto US Route 54
- Stay on US-54 to Tucumcari, NM
- At Tucumcari get on the I-40
- Stay on the I-40 toHolbrook, AZ
- At Holbrook take the Arizona State Route 377 south toward Heber-Overgaard via State 277
- From Payson, take State Highway 87 south to Phoenix.
The drive from Minneapolis to Phoenix is a long one, and should not be attempted in one shot. The most direct route will take approximately 25 hours, not including stops.
To complete the journey safely we recommend breaking this trip into five days of moderate driving, so as to avoid road fatigue.
