- Safety rating
- Gas mileage
- Durability and dependability
- Type of vehicle (car, truck, SUV, minivan)
- Electric, hybrid, or gas-powered
- Style
You should also determine a budget so you don’t buy anything you can’t afford. Adhering to the 20/10/4 rule is a good starting point, which states you should:
- Be able to put 20% down on the car
- Don’t spend more than 10% of your gross monthly income on the car
- Don’t get a loan for more than 48 months.
