What is the average price of car insurance in Baton Rouge?

I will be moving and I'm starting to look for car insurance. I looked into Esurance and they quoted me at $200 a month, which is almost $125 more than what I am currently paying. I have a 2009 Ford Focus and a clean driving record. Is this a normal rate for insurance in Baton Rouge?

“The cost of car insurance varies from state to state, as each state has their own required insurance minimums. There are also a lot of different factors that go into car insurance rates. Your age, marital status, address, and prior insurance information can all impact the rates you receive.
Depending on where you are moving from, the difference in rates could be due to the location. Louisiana has some of the highest rates in the country compared to a state like Maine, which has some of the cheapest car insurance rates in the country.
The best thing you can do is shop around. While Esurance may have given you a high rate, you could find a lower rate with another carrier.
Each carrier rates policies differently. Plus, you could qualify for discounts with another carrier. “
