The 2017
Infiniti Q50
takes fully-synthetic motor oil—but the type you need depends on your car’s engine:- The Infiniti Q50 2.0T uses 0W-30 motor oil
- The Infiniti Q50 3.0T uses 0W-20oil
Doing your own oil change is a great way to stay on top of your car’s maintenance needs, but using the wrong oil for your car can lead to problems like poor fuel economy, overheating, and leaks.
Before you do your first oil change, make sure you have the correct tools available, and it’s a good idea to watch some online video tutorials first. But to help you get started, here are the basic steps you need to follow:
- Step 1: Make sure you have the correct oil type and filter for your car.
- Step 2: Move your car to a level surface, and use a floor jack to lift it up.
- Step 3: Place an oil catch pan under your car to contain the old oil.
- Step 4: Unscrew the plug and put it aside. But be careful! The oil will pour out of your car quickly and it might be hot.
- Step 5: Wait a few minutes for all the oil to drain out, then replace the plug.
- Step 6: Move the catch pan under your oil filter, then remove the filter.
- Step 7: Install the new oil filter.
- Step 8: Lower your car, lift the hood, and remove the oil fill cap. Use a funnel to refill your oil.
- Step 9: Replace the fill cap, and run the engine for a few minutes to check for leaks.
As long as your car isn’t leaking oil, you can assume you’ve completed your oil change correctly and it’s safe to hit the road again!
