uses 5W-30 motor oil, but you only need to know that information if you plan to do your car’s oil change yourself. When you call a shop or dealership service center to schedule an oil change, you’ll only need to provide your car’s make and model—the mechanic will know what kind of motor oil to use! Staying on top of your car’s maintenance is a great way to save money and can help you catch small problems before they turn into major repairs. Here are some other things you can do to keep your car in good shape:
- Get your wheels aligned every 6,000 miles to prevent your tires from wearing out, and replace your tires after 50,000 miles of driving.
- Have your battery checked every five years, and replace it if it’s low on power.
- Replace your wiper blades about once per year, or anytime you notice streaks on your windshield. You should also top off your window washing fluid every three months.
- Check the recommended maintenance schedule in your owner’s manual or online, and follow it as closely as possible. When you bring your car to a shop or dealership for maintenance, the mechanic will check your vehicle’s fluids, filters, belts, hoses, and other parts to make sure everything is working correctly.
